Uber is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Configuration Platform team in Århus, Denmark. In this role, you will be part of the Unified Configuration System team, which enables Uber’s engineers and operators to manage and configure fleet-wide services safely and efficiently on a large scale. The team places a strong emphasis on safe, gradual configuration rollout, robust monitoring, and automatic rollback capabilities, providing a unified and scalable configuration experience across all workloads, data centers, and cloud vendors.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help build large-scale software solutions to ensure Uber’s systems remain reliable and efficient while collaborating closely with various product and platform teams. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Designing reliable solutions for complex business use cases within highly distributed systems.
- Implementing solutions primarily in Go with a strong focus on clean, readable code, backed by thorough unit and integration test coverage and production execution.
- Actively driving cross-functional collaboration and alignment across multiple teams.
- Participating in code change peer reviews to promote quality, best practices, and knowledge sharing.
- Contributing to the broader engineering culture around quality, monitoring, and on-call practices.
- Owning key components of the team’s charter to help shape its long-term direction.
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following basic qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- A self-driven, team-first mentality with a strong sense of ownership.
- A BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A background working with multiple programming languages, such as Go, Java, Python, or similar.
- A meticulous attention to detail, particularly regarding software engineering fundamentals, testing methodologies, and overall quality.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including experience writing design documents, technical documentation, and post-mortems.
Preferred qualifications that will help you thrive in this environment include experience building large distributed systems, running and monitoring critical production systems, handling incidents, and working with containerization tools like Kubernetes or Docker. Familiarity with database and storage technologies, on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP), and Linux development is also highly valued.
