About this job

Optum Behavioral Care is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Therapist to join our innovative team in Sevierville and Knoxville, Tennessee. As part of a clinician-led care organization, you will play an integral role in our vision to make healthcare better for everyone by providing direct clinical services within a Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) embedded in a primary care clinic.

In this hybrid WFH and onsite role, you will interface between patients, primary care providers, and psychiatrists to support both the mental and physical health care needs of an assigned patient caseload. This position follows a standard Monday through Friday schedule with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required. You will work remotely one to two days per week, with the remaining days based onsite at the medical clinic.

Primary responsibilities for the Mental Health Therapist include:

  • Screening and assessing patients for common mental health and substance abuse disorders using virtual and in-person modalities.
  • Systematically tracking treatment responses and monitoring patients for clinical symptom changes, treatment side effects, or complications.
  • Supporting psychotropic medication management as prescribed by medical providers, focusing on adherence, effectiveness, and side effects.
  • Providing brief behavioral interventions using evidence-based techniques such as motivational interviewing, behavioral activation, and problem-solving treatment.
  • Participating in regularly scheduled caseload consultations with psychiatric consultants and communicating recommendations to medical providers.
  • Developing relapse prevention and self-management plans for patients who have achieved their treatment goals.

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet specific state licensing requirements for Tennessee, such as holding an LCSW, LMSW, LAPSW, LMHC, LPC-MHSP, LPC-MHSP/T, LMFT, or LMFT/T. Applicants must also bring experience treating patients with behavioral health conditions, working in primary care or integrated medical settings, and utilizing evidence-based psychosocial treatments and brief behavioral interventions.

We are committed to professional growth and well-being, offering a comprehensive package of perks and benefits based on role eligibility. Compensation for this full-time position ranges from $58,800 to $105,000 annually, determined by factors such as education, local labor markets, certifications, and work experience. Additional benefits include paid time off, health insurance, 401(k) matching, tuition reimbursement, and CE/CEU licensure renewal support.
