Staff Software Engineer (Frontend / Full-stack)

Are you ready to make a global impact by building innovative fintech products? Uber is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Financial Products team. As part of a highly focused growth initiative, you will help build out financial services that interface with the entire Uber platform, launching high-impact projects that directly influence the company’s performance on a global scale.

In this role, you will take ownership of user-facing web products and services, driving key technical decisions while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Leading and executing web projects that span across multiple engineering teams.
• Collaborating closely with product, design, and business teams to design and implement new product ideas and scalable solutions.
• Driving the adoption of best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability.
• Playing an active role in technical design choices, code reviews, and documentation.

To be successful, candidates must meet the following basic qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of working with web technology and technical software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience developing web applications using frameworks like React or Node.js.
• Familiarity with microservices, API design, data analytics, and experimental design.

Preferred qualifications include a strong sense of ownership, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, a robust understanding of client-side performance optimizations, and experience with general-purpose programming languages like C++, Python, Java, or Go. Familiarity with modern build tools, testing frameworks, and state management libraries is also valued.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles, the base salary range is USD $232,000 per year to USD $258,000 per year. You will also be eligible to participate in Uber’s bonus program, may be offered an equity award and other types of compensation, and will have access to various benefits.
