Optum is seeking a Statewide Nurse Practitioner Traveler to join our Home Based Medical Care team in Iowa. As part of a clinician-led care organization, you will have the clinical resources, data, and support of a global organization behind you to help patients live healthier lives in a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment. This role offers a base salary ranging from $89,900 to $160,600 annually, complemented by multiple incentives, a comprehensive benefits package including 401k and equity stock purchase, and covered travel expenses. Additionally, eligible individuals who have not previously participated in the program may qualify for a $40,000 Student Loan Repayment or a $25,000 Sign-on Bonus.

In this position, you will manage chronic illnesses in a complex elderly population with multimorbid conditions, focusing on wellness, avoiding unnecessary hospitalizations, and improving patient satisfaction. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive geriatric initial assessments, providing urgent in-home triage and treatment, ordering and interpreting diagnostics, and collaborating closely with primary care providers and specialists. Please note that this role requires frequent travel across the entire state of Iowa approximately 85% of the time.

Required qualifications for the Statewide Nurse Practitioner Traveler role include:

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current NP license and current state RN license
  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and compliance with the Optum Motor Vehicle Safety policy
  • Current valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one by your start date
  • Ability to travel frequently across the entire state of Iowa (approximately 85% of the time)

Preferred qualifications that enhance your candidacy include:

  • Two or more years of clinical experience in primary care, home-based medical care, geriatrics, palliative care, or emergency and urgent care
  • Familiarity with clinical standards of care, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPC codes
  • Understanding of long-term care, community resources, NCQA requirements, CMS guidelines, and Medicare/Medicaid contracts
