L3Harris is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Specialist, Software Engineering to join our innovative technology team. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will play a crucial part in developing and enhancing advanced software solutions that contribute directly to the strategic objectives of our organization. You will work collaboratively within a dynamic environment to design, develop, and maintain software applications critical to our operations and customer satisfaction.
As a Senior Specialist, your core responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing new software features and frameworks, delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate new features and functionality.
- Engaging with other team members in planning project timelines, implementing design specifications, and driving system performance improvements.
- Conducting code reviews, writing unit tests, and documenting software implementations to ensure optimal development quality.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues in existing software applications to enhance user experience and system performance.
- Participating actively in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- A Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Applicants must also bring the following foundational skills and qualifications:
- Demonstrated software development experience within the DoD industry.
- A solid understanding of software development principles and design patterns.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar.
- Demonstrated familiarity with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies such as Test-Driven Development.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- The ability to travel domestically and/or work extended hours as needed based on business demands.
Preferred additional skills that will enhance your candidacy include demonstrated knowledge of Windows and UNIX-based platforms (CENTOS/ROCKY/RHEL 8), software patterns and modern design methodology (UML), and version control and tracking tools like Git, Bitbucket, and JIRA. Candidates with a background in cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices (Fortify), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub), and containerization/orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) are strongly encouraged to apply.
