Senior Manager, Art Direction – Unpublished R&D Product

As a Senior Manager, Art Direction for an unpublished R&D product at Riot, you will oversee the quality and management of a team with a focus on Mission, Direction, and Cohesion. Your scope of responsibilities covers an entire initiative, including the overall culture, performance, and growth of your direct reports.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee art direction for project cosmetics, from concept through final in-game assets, ensuring clear thematic vision, craft excellence, and strong player resonance.
• Uphold the artistic vision, craft standards, and success criteria that drive clarity, readability, and emotional impact across cosmetics, partnering with production to support sustainable quality.
• Collaborate closely with Creative and Product leadership to interpret and implement the creative vision, ensuring alignment with global quality standards, champion identity, and thematic intent.
• Champion player clarity and fantasy in every cosmetic, guiding teams to create visually exciting, thematically cohesive, and gameplay-readable art.
• Collaborate across regional studios to maintain alignment, manage feedback, and resolve challenges across all stages of production while removing creative and operational blockers.
• Mentor and grow craft leads, fostering creative excellence, leadership confidence, and a healthy, inclusive, and creatively charged team culture.

Required Qualifications:

• Deep experience with the game art production pipeline across multiple art disciplines.
• Proven success in art direction and people management.
• Strong background collaborating with external vendors and co-development partners.
• Skilled in stakeholder management, prioritization, and navigating ambiguity.
• Fluent in English, able to clearly communicate creative direction and goals.
• Experience developing a style and artistic vision, shepherding it through production and shipping, and directing an organization to execute on it.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience planning and maintaining production schedules in partnership with producers or development managers.
• Broad experience shipping stylized AAA content.
• Familiarity with outsourcing workflows and end-to-end pipelines.
• Engine experience such as Unreal, Unity, or proprietary systems.
• Multilingual skills such as Mandarin or other regional languages.
