Mechanical Technician

SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make human life on Mars possible. As a Mechanical Technician (Facilities) based in Hawthorne, CA, you will join our critical infrastructure team to help design, build, activate, and maintain some of the world’s most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. You will operate with autonomy to solve complex problems and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment supporting our mission.

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with engineers, managers, and customers to maintain facilities systems in peak operating condition with zero unplanned interruptions.
• Maintaining and repairing HVAC support equipment, including air handlers, chilled water systems, condenser pumps, cooling towers, valves, and filters.
• Performing plumbing, ductwork modifications, brazing, soldering, pipefitting, and refrigerant evacuation and charging.
• Conducting hands-on troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, and testing of pumps and other mechanical equipment.
• Reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
• Operating material handling and lifting equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, boom lifts, and overhead cranes.
• Opening, tracking, and resolving electronic work tickets while adhering to all local, state, and federal building codes.

Basic qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
• 3+ years of professional experience working with HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, electrical, or mechanical systems.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and work at elevated heights up to 150 feet.
• A valid California driver’s license.
• Compliance with U.S. Government export regulations (ITAR requirements).

Compensation and benefits:

• Pay range varies by level: Level 1 ($23.00 – $32.50/hour), Level 2 ($31.00 – $43.00/hour), and Level 3 ($41.00 – $51.00/hour), determined based on job-related knowledge, education, and experience.
