Key responsibilities typically associated with this role include:
- Reviewing, interpreting, and dispensing physician medication orders accurately and efficiently.
- Monitoring patient medication regimens for effectiveness, safety, potential interactions, and allergies.
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other multidisciplinary healthcare team members to optimize patient pharmacotherapy.
- Providing drug information and education to patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and hospital policies regarding pharmacy operations and controlled substances.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to medication dispensing and inventory management.
