People Pawtal is seeking a dedicated Community Orthoptist to join our team on a part-time basis in the Wollongong Area and Illawarra region. As a Community Orthoptist with People Pawtal, your day-to-day responsibilities will naturally align with standard professional practice in the field, supporting clients within the community. While specific day-to-day tasks will vary based on client needs, typical duties for this role include:
- Conducting comprehensive vision assessments and clinical evaluations for clients experiencing low vision or blindness
- Recommending, prescribing, and demonstrating appropriate low vision aids, optical devices, and assistive technologies
- Providing tailored training and practical strategies to help clients maximize their remaining vision and daily independence
- Collaborating closely with clients, their families, and multidisciplinary support networks to develop personalized care plans
- Travel throughout the Wollongong and Illawarra region to deliver community-based services and home visits
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and case notes in accordance with professional and organizational standards
