PEABODY COALTRADE ASIA PRIVATE LTD. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Longwall Manager to join our team at our Erakala, Mackay operation. This full-time position offers an opportunity to lead and oversee critical mining operations within our Mine Operations department. The role is ideal for a proactive leader passionate about underground coal mining and committed to safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
The Longwall Manager will be responsible for directing and coordinating all activities associated with longwall mining operations. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of miners, supervisors, and technical staff, ensuring that production targets are met while adhering to stringent safety and environmental standards. This role involves planning and executing longwall retreat sequences, managing equipment maintenance schedules, and optimizing panel productivity to maximize output and profitability.
- Oversee daily longwall mining operations, including panel development, equipment deployment, and production planning.
- Lead and mentor a team of miners and supervisors, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and safety protocols in line with industry best practices.
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and technical teams to resolve operational challenges and implement process improvements.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including production rates, equipment efficiency, and safety metrics.
- Manage resource allocation, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain detailed operational plans, risk assessments, and contingency strategies for longwall activities.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of longwall mining techniques, and the ability to make decisive, informed decisions under pressure. A proven track record in mine operations, combined with a commitment to safety and a deep understanding of Australian mining regulations, is essential.
