Doctors Hospital of Augusta is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced General Surgery Program Director to lead our new General Surgery Graduate Medical Education (GME) Residency Program located in Martinez, Columbia County. This is a vital leadership position responsible for the overall organization, operation, and general administration of the residency program.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive direction to ensure full compliance with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a high-quality, supportive educational environment that empowers resident physicians as they progress through their medical training and pursue diverse professional pathways in surgery.
Key responsibilities typically associated with this role include:
- Directing the daily operations and academic administration of the General Surgery Residency Program
- Ensuring continuous compliance with ACGME accreditation standards and institutional policies
- Guiding curriculum development, clinical rotation scheduling, and resident evaluation processes
- Mentoring, supervising, and supporting resident physicians throughout their training
- Participating in faculty development and contributing to the selection and recruitment of incoming residents
- Collaborating with hospital administration and clinical leadership to maintain high standards of patient care and educational excellence
