The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory, including microbiology. This role operates on the Day Shift and plays a critical part in supporting patient care by producing accurate and timely laboratory results that inform clinical decision-making.
In this position, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards. You will analyze specimens, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure that all testing is conducted in a safe and compliant manner. The role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing routine and specialized testing in microbiology and other clinical laboratory areas
- Ensuring quality control procedures are followed and results are accurately documented
- Operating, calibrating, and performing basic maintenance on laboratory instruments and analyzers
- Adhering to all safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines
- Communicating effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Participating in ongoing professional development and staying current with laboratory practices
