Shenton College, one of Australia’s leading co-educational schools with approximately 2,800 students and 300 staff, is seeking to establish a pool of Assistant Gardeners – Handypersons. This recruitment process aims to fill part-time vacancies that may arise as permanent and fixed-term opportunities during the 2026/2027 school year, running from the beginning of Term 3, 2026 up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Successful candidates may be appointed from the pool at any time for commencements within this period.
As an Assistant Gardener – Handyperson based in the Perth CBD area, you will play a vital role in maintaining the presentation, safety, and functionality of the school grounds and facilities. You will work collaboratively within the school operations team to support a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities typically associated with this role include:
- Maintaining school gardens, lawns, plants, and outdoor areas through regular weeding, pruning, watering, and general upkeep.
- Performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general handyperson duties across school buildings and facilities.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of gardening tools, machinery, and equipment in a safe manner.
- Assisting with site safety checks, hazard identification, and general site logistics as required.
- Contributing to a clean, tidy, and well-presented educational campus to support daily school operations.
