Canva is looking for a Backend Software Engineer specialising in Product & Features (Java) to join the team. This position is offered at a mid-level seniority and is fully open to remote work across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), with a base connection to Melbourne, VIC.
In this role, you will help build and scale backend systems that empower users worldwide to design effortlessly. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of product managers, frontend developers, and designers to deliver robust features and exceptional user experiences.
Key responsibilities for this role typically include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs primarily using Java.
- Collaborating with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and high-quality features.
- Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while participating in code reviews.
- Troubleshooting, debugging, and improving application performance and reliability in a production environment.
- Contributing to architectural discussions and best practices within the engineering team.
