Barista – Temporary

The SpaceX Hospitality team supports this mission by serving employees, customers, government partners, potential clients, and visitors with snacks, daily meals, and full-service events to boost morale and productivity.

We are currently seeking a Temporary Barista to join our team in Starbase, TX. This is a temporary position lasting for 3 months, with the possibility of permanent hire conversion based on performance and business need. In this role, you will be part of a team-oriented hospitality group passionate about coffee, espresso, and tea preparation and service.

Responsibilities for the Barista position include:

• Set up, maintain, and clean workstations, surrounding areas, dining, work, and storage spaces to ensure safety and organization.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance on departmental tools, equipment, and drip coffee stations.
• Complete daily record keeping, tasks, and opening/closing checklists while meeting time and quality standards set by leadership.
• Engage customers, fulfill orders, and demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills, including explaining menu changes.
• Prepare a variety of coffee, espresso, tea beverages, and food products while operating manual espresso machines, drip brewers, grinders, and serving utensils with high proficiency.
• Assist with catering, special event requests, and station setups across various outlets.
• Adhere strictly to proper safety guidelines, food safety, and sanitation practices.
• Interact professionally with guests, supervisors, and co-workers at all times.

Basic qualifications required for this role:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Minimum of 1+ years of barista experience, or 2+ years in customer service within a food service environment that includes coffee and/or beverage services.
• Must be able to work all shifts and remain available for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Valid Texas Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain one before employment.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, which may include standing and walking for up to 10 hours per day, lifting up to 25 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs., and working in temperatures over 80 degrees for short periods.
• To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Preferred skills and experience:

• 3+ years of barista experience.
• Self-motivated and able to take initiative in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with high-volume output.
• Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills alongside strong time management abilities.
• Basic computer skills, primarily utilizing Microsoft Office.
