We are currently seeking a dedicated and qualified Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a full-time position within our Surgical Anesthesiology department. In this role, you will have the responsibility and accountability for providing advanced nursing practice while administering anesthesia to surgical and obstetrical patients under a delegating physician. Responsibility and accountability of anesthesia services ultimately lies with the Medical Director. This position requires active participation in fulfilling our organizational mission and demonstrating behavior consistent with our core values and strategic plans.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Assessing patients peri-operatively, performing patient history and physical examinations, and reviewing patient records and diagnostic test results to determine health status.
- Administering general, regional, local anesthesia, and moderate sedation, as well as managing intravenous catheters, fluids, blood, muscle relaxants, vasoactive, and cardiac drugs.
- Performing routine and advanced procedures such as drawing venous and arterial blood, placing central venous lines, Swan Ganz lines, and inserting nasogastric or orogastric tubes.
- Providing regional anesthesia under a delegating physician, including spinal, epidural, intravenous, and various peripheral nerve blocks.
- Initiating and managing mechanical ventilation, resuscitation techniques, and monitoring patients continuously according to established clinical standards.
- Making post-operative rounds, providing patient and family education, and collaborating effectively with the broader patient care team.
- Maintaining a safe patient environment by adhering to infection control, safety standards, proper medication administration policies, and participating in time-out procedures.
Job requirements:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
- 2 to 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Current APRN License in the state of employment.
- CRNA certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
