BJC HealthCare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our specialized 19-bed Surgical Progressive/Intermediate Care Unit (PCU) located in Manchester, Saint Louis County. This is a full-time opportunity with both day and night shifts available. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to high-acuity patients recovering from complex surgical procedures. Our specialized unit focuses on caring for individuals undergoing abdominal transplants, including kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants, as well as hepatobiliary surgery such as liver resections, Whipple procedures, and pancreatectomies. You will also care for patients recovering from fresh ENT surgeries and other advanced surgical interventions.
As a Clinical Nurse within our Surgical PCU, your day-to-day responsibilities will typically include:
- Assessing, monitoring, and recording the vital signs and clinical status of high-acuity surgical patients.
- Administering medications, managing surgical drains, and providing thorough post-operative wound care.
- Collaborating closely with physicians, surgeons, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educating patients and their families on post-operative recovery, discharge instructions, and self-care management.
- Advocating for patient safety and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence in a fast-paced environment.
The compensation for this full-time position ranges from $66,560 to $100,422 per year. Additionally, a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is available for eligible candidates joining our team.
