ADA Australia is currently seeking a dedicated professional for a Disability Advocate – Identified Position on a full-time basis, located in Manoora, Cairns. This role offers an annual salary ranging from A$105,570 to A$110,350.
As a respected and independent not-for-profit organisation, ADA Australia is dedicated to advocating for the rights, safety, and wellbeing of older people and individuals with disability throughout Queensland. This position is part of Yarn2Action, a statewide advocacy service specifically designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with a disability by delivering culturally safe advocacy, information, and support.
In this meaningful role, you will help clients navigate complex systems, understand their personal rights, ensure their voices are effectively heard, and assist them in accessing the essential services and supports they require to thrive.
Key responsibilities typically associated with this type of advocacy role include:
- Providing individual, client-centred advocacy to support people with disability in upholding their rights and choices.
- Delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed support tailored to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Assisting clients to connect with relevant community services, government supports, and disability service providers.
- Liaising and building positive relationships with stakeholders, community groups, and service providers to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
- Maintaining accurate records and case notes in accordance with organisational standards and privacy guidelines.
