WellMed Medical Group, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a full-time float Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in the Deer Park and greater San Antonio, TX areas. As a member of the Optum Care Delivery team, you will play an integral role in our vision to make healthcare better for everyone while working within a clinician-led organization dedicated to changing the way clinicians work and live.
In this role, you will practice with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare providers utilizing a quality-versus-quantity model designed to treat the whole patient—physically, mentally, and socially. Providers typically see 14 to 16 patients per day, focusing primarily on a geriatric patient population with Medicare Advantage coverage. You will be supported to practice at the peak of your license, emphasizing value-based outcomes and preventative healthcare for seniors.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Current certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board
- Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
- 1+ year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population
- Ability to work at any of our clinics across the greater San Antonio area
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency

Compensation and benefits highlights include a base salary plus annual quality incentive bonus, with a total cash compensation range at target between $104,500 and $156,000 annually based on full-time employment, with the actual range varying based on experience and metric achievement. Additional offerings include the Optum Care Advanced Provider Clinician Partnership Plan, 160 hours of PTO, 40 hours of CME, clinics closed for 8 national holidays, a 401(k) with match, the UHG Employee Stock Purchase Program, and comprehensive benefits from Optum Partner Services.
