We are currently seeking a Global Functional Materials Manager to provide expertise, advice, and direction for design office and field materials management activities within the global business unit. In this role, you will ensure organizational effectiveness across all functions responsible for the materials management process, facilitate policy and procedure implementation, and oversee inventory control systems.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional guidance to personnel assigned to project materials management, including materials coordination and materials planning specialists and supervisors.
  • Manage the global business unit Material Management function to ensure projects and activities are planned, resourced, and implemented effectively.
  • Advise Supply Chain Management regarding the automation of work processes and material management operations.
  • Perform employee performance evaluations for direct reports, review annual evaluations for consistency, conduct career discussions, and evaluate staff skills and proficiency.
  • Develop and direct training programs, determine personnel training needs, and assist corporate Supply Chain with training development.
  • Develop and implement quality initiatives, functional procedures, and instructions for Supply Chain personnel.
  • Perform functional reviews on projects to ensure adherence to project execution plans and procedural compliance, and provide expert advice on warehousing, maintenance, control, handling, work hour estimates, and organizational charts.
  • Forecast long-range personnel requirements and coordinate timely staffing for positions within GBU Supply Chain operations.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) with 13-15 years of relevant experience, or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Requires approximately 8 years of experience in project-based materials management of major equipment and bulk materials, with experience on a major module project preferred.
  • Must have experience working on large projects (>$2 billion) involving multi-office global execution and logistics.
  • Advanced knowledge required in front-end materials management work processes, project Procurement operations, Engineering disciplines and deliverables, supplier/fabricator data systems, advanced work packaging, pre-buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel policies, instructions, Procurement procedures, and Field Engineering/Construction activities associated with integrated work process procedures is an asset.
