Lead, Project Engineer

L3Harris is actively seeking a Lead Project Engineer to support the execution of complex, specialized hardware and software systems installed on airborne platforms, as well as the development of our Digital ICE product line. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that program technical development is performed to meet all established technical, cost, and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning, coordination, and execution of program activities throughout the entire program lifecycle
• Documenting and obtaining approval for comprehensive program plans
• Ensuring strict life-cycle process adherence and maintaining robust risk identification and management
• Serving as the primary technical interface and coordinating closely with customers and senior leadership
• Directing and guiding individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders across systems, software, aeronautical, specialty, and logistic engineering disciplines
• Leading cross-functional engineering teams in program execution and bid or proposal activities
• Providing technical leadership to resolve design and integration challenges for system integration efforts and Electronic Attack Mission Systems
• Tracking engineering performance metrics, cost, and schedule execution, and briefing program status on a monthly basis to senior engineering leadership
• Ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and safety standards

Qualifications required for this role:

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience is required
• Demonstrated experience in program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget
• Understanding of engineering processes, policies, and aircraft integration, test, and delivery
• Demonstrated background in software, hardware, systems, test, or project engineering
• An active DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) Security Clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship
• Ability to travel as needed based on business demands

Preferred additional skills include prior leadership experience as a Task Leader, IPT Leader, and/or Functional Manager, alongside excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with internal and external customer stakeholders.
