We are supporting a global leader in digital engineering and enterprise modernisation to appoint a Lead Quality Engineer & Project Lead – Quality for their Melbourne team. We are seeking an experienced performance testing professional to take ownership of performance engineering across key delivery streams. In this dual-focused role, you will lead quality strategy while managing project delivery, ensuring that performance standards are embedded from design through to production. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, product owners, and stakeholders to define quality objectives, prioritise testing efforts, and drive continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
As a project lead, you will coordinate timelines, resources, and deliverables, maintaining clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences. You will be expected to mentor and develop quality team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence in testing practices.
Typical responsibilities for this kind of role include:
- Leading performance testing strategies, including load, stress, and scalability testing across complex enterprise platforms
- Owning the quality roadmap and aligning it with project milestones and business objectives
- Collaborating with development and operations teams to integrate quality practices into CI/CD pipelines
- Managing project plans, risk registers, and stakeholder reporting to ensure on-time, on-quality delivery
- Mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices in test automation and performance engineering
- Analysing test results, identifying performance bottlenecks, and driving root-cause resolution
The ideal candidate brings proven experience in performance testing and quality leadership within a large-scale, complex environment. Strong communication skills, the ability to influence at all organisational levels, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential. This is a full-time opportunity based in Melbourne CBD.
