University of New Mexico – Hospitals in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an MRI Radiology Technologist to join the Radiology – MRI department. This is a PRN position with an FTE of 0.05 and a rotating shift schedule. Compensation for this role ranges from a minimum offer of $33.07 per hour to a maximum offer of $51.23 per hour, with additional shift differentials available including 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. Compensation is determined based on factors including experience, education, and other organizational considerations.

In this role, you will provide patient services and perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging following assigned protocols for various exams, including Neuro, Musculoskeletal, and Body Imaging across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Your responsibilities will ensure adherence to all hospital and departmental policies while delivering quality service and positive interactions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operate imaging equipment, computers, and assistive devices according to department standards and follow Radiology Department protocols.
  • Position and immobilize patients, assess physical needs during examinations, and assist physicians throughout the imaging process.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, take corrective action as needed, and participate in quality control programs.
  • Ensure safety by following radiation safety standards, ALARA guidelines, and maintaining patient safety protocols.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media/agents under supervision, and properly handle select medications as directed.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, patient education, lab results, and checklists, and document patient reactions or problems.
  • Maintain clean work areas, manage inventory control, and assist in reception, scheduling, or transport when necessary.
  • Participate in educational programs, clinical education for students and staff, and professional development activities.

Qualifications for the role include:

  • Education: Graduate of a program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health (AMA) or an accredited educational program, with a completed cross-sectional anatomy course and 1 year of directly related experience.
  • Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days; American Registry of Radiologic Technologists License; Intermediate Life Support certification within 6 months; MRI Certification by ARRT or equivalent within 2 years of hire; and NMMIRTP within 6 weeks or a provisional license up to 2 years of hire.

Physical and working conditions involve heavy work requiring the exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly. The position involves significant exposure to hazards such as chemicals and biohazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment (PPE), along with required tuberculosis testing upon hire.
