WAAC is currently seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as an Officer – Work, Health and Safety. This is a full-time, 1 FTE position based in West Perth, Perth, offering an annual salary of A$84,177.
Established in 1985, WAAC is a non-profit organisation primarily funded by the WA Department of Health. Our purpose is to optimise the health and wellbeing of all individuals by reducing the impact of stigma and discrimination, improving access to health services and information, and reducing the transmission of HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and blood-borne viruses (BBVs). WAAC has a proud history of involvement with the LGBTIQA+ community and the broader populations we serve.
In the role of Officer – Work, Health and Safety, you will play a crucial part in supporting our organisational operations and maintaining a safe, compliant working environment. Day-to-day responsibilities for this position typically involve:
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and systems to ensure full compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Conducting regular workplace inspections, hazard identifications, and risk assessments to proactively address potential safety concerns.
- Facilitating incident reporting, investigation processes, and managing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Providing guidance, support, and communication to staff regarding health, safety, and wellbeing practices across the organisation.
- Maintaining accurate documentation, records, and reporting in relation to work, health, and safety metrics.
