Optum is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) – Clinician Educator for Quality and Clinical Documentation to join our clinician-led care team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As part of the Optum Care Delivery network, you will play an integral role in advancing our vision to make healthcare better for everyone, supported by the resources and data of a global organization.
In this dynamic role, you will help network physicians and advanced practice clinicians navigate value-based care, documentation, and patient outcomes. Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing face-to-face and virtual education to network clinicians regarding value-based care, Hierarchical Category Codes (HCCs), Medicare HEDIS measures, patient experience, and Stars ratings.
- Partnering with clinical teams to focus on reimbursement models that improve care quality, efficiency, and patient-centric preventative care.
- Building professional relationships with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and clinic administrators to address questions, concerns, and perspectives.
- Working autonomously and traveling locally to various clinic sites as needed.
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Possession of a New Mexico Physician Assistant license (or the ability to obtain it prior to start) along with national certification, with Family Medicine, Adult Medicine, or Geriatrics preferred.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience working as a Physician Assistant.
- A valid New Mexico Driver’s License and auto insurance in accordance with state requirements by the employment date.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience with Medicare Advantage risk adjustment documentation, public speaking, quality improvement reports, HEDIS measures, and various electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
The annual salary range for this full-time role is $104,500 to $156,000, determined by factors such as local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. Eligible applicants may also qualify for a signing bonus, incentive pay potential, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, robust retirement offerings including employer-funded contributions and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, short-term and long-term disability, and continuing medical education (CME) opportunities.
