CHRISTUS Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Oncologist to join our multidisciplinary team in Shreveport, LA. In this role, the Radiation Oncologist will be responsible for diagnosing and developing personalized treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy. You will collaborate closely with a dedicated team of medical professionals, including medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and oncology nurses, to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and support a collaborative care environment.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Evaluating patients with cancer and formulating treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs
- Administering and overseeing radiation therapy treatments with a strong focus on safety protocols and quality assurance standards
- Collaborating with other oncology specialists and multidisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care plans
- Participating in tumor boards and case discussions
- Educating patients and their families on treatment processes and expected outcomes
- Engaging in clinical research or continuous improvement projects, as applicable
Qualifications and requirements for candidates:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Board certification or eligibility in Radiation Oncology
- A valid medical license to practice in the state of Louisiana
- Strong clinical expertise in radiation therapy planning and delivery, with proficiency in advanced techniques such as IMRT, SBRT, SRS, and IGRT preferred
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a strong dedication to patient-centered care
