The Queensland Government is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional for the Principal Conservation Officer – Flexible role, based in the Brisbane CBD. This is a senior-level opportunity ideal for an individual looking to leverage their expertise in managing invasive species to directly influence and improve protected area management across the entire State of Queensland.
In this position, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping state-wide conservation efforts. We are specifically looking for someone who brings significant experience in program-level pest management, with the capability to design, oversee, and guide complex environmental initiatives. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and government bodies to drive strategic outcomes for Queensland’s unique natural landscapes and biodiversity.
Key responsibilities typically associated with this senior conservation role include:
- Leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of state-wide program-level pest and invasive species management strategies.
- Providing expert advice on protected area management, conservation policy, and environmental risk mitigation.
- Collaborating and consulting with internal teams, regional offices, external stakeholders, and community partners to ensure aligned and effective conservation outcomes.
- Preparing high-level reports, ministerial briefings, policy documents, and project proposals.
