Local Grocers & Meats is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Butcher to join our busy team on a full-time basis in Armadale. As a fresh produce, groceries, and meat retailer, we have expanded to offer a full-service butchery providing premium halal meats and specialty cuts to our local community. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and packaging a wide variety of meats to meet the high standards our customers expect. Key responsibilities for this position typically include:
- Breaking down beef, lamb, poultry, and other meats into primal and retail-ready cuts.
- Ensuring all products meet strict quality, freshness, and halal preparation standards.
- Operating and maintaining butchery equipment safely and efficiently, including bandsaws, mincers, and slicers.
- Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service, offering cooking advice, and fulfilling custom orders.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety compliance across all work and display areas.
- Assisting with counter displays, stock rotation, and inventory management.
To be successful in this role, candidates should hold a relevant butchery qualification and have professional experience working in a retail meat or similar environment. You should possess strong knife skills, a solid understanding of food safety regulations, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
