We are currently seeking a dedicated Research Scientist in Coleoptera to join our team on a full-time basis, located in Barton, South Canberra. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to shape the global understanding of jewel beetle diversity through innovative taxonomy and systematics.

You will play a vital role in turning your beetle expertise into tangible scientific impact by delivering comprehensive species revisions, describing new taxa, and contributing significantly to our broader research goals. This position is ideal for a passionate scientist eager to advance entomological research within a world-class scientific organization.

Key responsibilities in this role typically include:

  • Conducting advanced taxonomic and systematic research on Coleoptera, with a primary focus on jewel beetles.
  • Delivering detailed species revisions and formally describing new taxa to enhance scientific literature and collections.
  • Collaborating with internal researchers and external scientific communities to drive impactful biodiversity projects.
  • Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presenting outcomes at relevant conferences.
  • Curating and managing relevant specimen collections in accordance with institutional standards.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong background in entomology, specifically within coleopteran taxonomy and systematics, demonstrated through your research output and academic qualifications.
