Join the RAC as a Roadside Mechanic and become part of the trusted team that keeps the UK moving. We are currently looking for a dedicated professional to cover the Farringdon and Central London area on a full-time basis. In this vital role, you will be the face of our roadside assistance, helping motorists get back on their journey safely and efficiently.
As a Roadside Mechanic, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve attending to vehicle breakdowns, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults at the roadside, and performing effective mobile repairs or arranging onward travel when necessary. You will manage your workload professionally, maintain high standards of customer service, and ensure all tools and equipment are kept in safe working order.
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent)
- Possess at least 2 years of relevant hands-on mechanical experience
- Hold a valid UK driving licence suitable for the role
- Demonstrate strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Possess excellent customer-facing communication skills
This is a fantastic opportunity with a highly competitive financial package. The position offers a realistic On-Target Earnings (OTE) of £66,000 per year, with top-performing technicians having the potential to earn significantly more through performance bonuses and enhanced overtime rates. Additional working arrangements include the convenience of starting and finishing your shift directly from your own driveway, operating on a demand-led shift pattern.
