In this dynamic field-based role, you will be the face of the RAC, providing roadside assistance and mechanical repairs to motorists in need. Working independently and efficiently, you will diagnose and resolve a wide variety of vehicle faults, ensuring customers can get back on the road safely and swiftly.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Attending breakdown locations promptly and safely assessing vehicle issues
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using specialist diagnostic equipment
- Performing roadside repairs where possible, or arranging alternative recovery solutions when necessary
- Delivering exceptional customer service by communicating clearly and reassuring motorists during stressful situations
- Maintaining accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs, and parts used
To be successful as a Roadside Vehicle Mechanic with the RAC, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Hold a relevant Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent)
- Possess practical, hands-on mechanical experience working on modern vehicles
- Hold a valid UK driving licence with no excessive penalty points
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in various weather conditions
- Possess a customer-first attitude with excellent communication skills
