James Cook University is currently seeking a dedicated professional for the part-time, remote position of Senior Lecturer in Nursing, Remote and Rural Health, based in the Wurdong Heights and Gladstone region. In this academic role, you will make a meaningful impact by helping to deliver JCU’s distributed nursing program and strengthening the health workforce capacity across regional Queensland.
As part of the academic team, you will contribute to the education and professional development of the next generation of healthcare workers through impactful teaching and student-centered support. Your day-to-day responsibilities will generally include:
- Delivering engaging, high-quality teaching and learning experiences for undergraduate and/or postgraduate nursing students in a remote environment
- Supporting student recruitment, ongoing engagement, academic progression, and overall success throughout their studies
- Strengthening rural and remote clinical placement pathways, as well as fostering valuable community and industry partnerships
- Contributing to curriculum development, course coordination, and academic administration tasks associated with the nursing program
- Participating in scholarly activities, collaborative research, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with rural and remote health priorities
