Public Sector People are currently recruiting for an AO6 Senior Management Accountant on behalf of a Queensland State Government Department. This is a full-time opportunity based in the Brisbane CBD, offering an initial contract until 18th December 2026 with the possibility of a 6-month extension, at a rate of $79.17 per hour plus superannuation.
Working within the Strategic Investments and Enterprise Finance branch, you will join a collaborative and dynamic Budget and Financial Management Team. This role is ideal for experienced financial professionals looking to contribute to impactful public sector initiatives in Queensland.
Key responsibilities in this role typically include:
- Providing high-level management accounting and financial advisory services to support strategic decision-making.
- Assisting with budget development, forecasting, monitoring, and financial reporting processes within the branch.
- Analyzing financial data and variances to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for financial optimization.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and team members to ensure compliance with relevant government financial policies and frameworks.
- Preparing detailed reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership.
To be successful in this position, you will bring a strong background in financial management and accounting, ideally within a public sector or similar complex environment. Your ability to communicate effectively, interpret complex financial data, and work collaboratively within a team will be essential to your success.
