About this job

We are looking for a Senior Marketing Applied Scientist to join our Brand Science team and provide strategic, actionable insights on how to measure and optimize a large brand marketing budget. In this role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team of marketing and media stakeholders, our in-house research and insights team, and fellow scientists across the broader organization to shape marketing and measurement strategy while exploring rich datasets.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying statistical and econometric methods to estimate the incremental impact of changes in marketing and product strategy on brand-relevant KPIs, such as sentiment, awareness, and purchase intent, as well as business outcomes like trips, orders, and gross bookings.
  • Building and improving technical tools for marketing problems, including media mix models, statistical estimators to gauge the impact of various interventions, and optimization engines for resource distribution.
  • Interfacing closely with external partners, such as media agencies, advertising platforms, and measurement vendors, to understand platform capabilities and limitations and push the envelope on what is possible.
  • Collaborating with in-house media, research, product, and operations teams to develop actionable customer insights and recommendations that guide high-level business and marketing strategy.

Basic qualifications for the role include:

  • 5+ years of experience, or equivalent, working with statistical modeling, causal inference, and econometric techniques.
  • Proficiency in SQL and a data analysis programming language, with a preference for Python or R.
  • Excellent communication skills to understand stakeholder needs, set expectations regarding feasibility, translate business challenges into research questions, and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A self-driven work ethic and the ability to successfully deliver on ambiguous projects involving messy and incomplete data.

Preferred qualifications include experience solving quantitative problems in the marketing and AdTech space, holding a PhD in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, or operations research, and demonstrating a strong intellectual curiosity for applying and extending technical solutions in innovative ways.

For New York, NY-based and San Francisco, CA-based roles, the base salary range is USD $190,000 to USD $211,000 per year. For all US locations, employees are eligible to participate in the company bonus program, may be offered an equity award and other types of compensation, and can participate in a 401(k) plan and various other benefits.
