L3Harris Technologies is seeking a dedicated Senior Specialist, Systems Engineer (RF) to provide systems engineering support and leadership for space-based and associated subsystems across multiple responsive space programs within the Surveillance Systems Division of our Space and Airborne Systems Segment. In this role, you will work within cross-functional teams to support programs through the full lifecycle, spanning program pursuit, proposal, execution, and operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a rapid-pace execution schedule, leverages technical troubleshooting skills, and communicates promptly with leadership regarding progress and roadblocks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing engineering services in research, evaluation, and development for highly complex and technical space-based and airborne aerospace products.
- Applying systems engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to solve complex development problems.
- Specifying, architecting, analyzing, modeling, establishing flow downs, and verifying designs and complex engineering tasks across electrical, mechanical, optical, RF, software, systems, and hardware components with minimal direction.
- Presenting analysis of designs to Design Review Boards and participating in proposal teams when applicable.
- Working with subject matter experts (SMEs) to act as the voice of the customer and lead technically through the full product and program life cycle, including advanced R&D, capture, proposals, design, integration, test, verification, and sustainment.
- Leading coordination with System Integration and Test engineers responsible for assembly, integration, and testing of payload and space vehicle subsystems, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Performing hardware and software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation, alongside interface requirements flow-down coordination.
- Participating and presenting information at internal and external technical reviews, including peer reviews, requirements reviews, design reviews, qualification reviews, customer System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM).
- Leading subsystem and system-level testing, data reviews, anomaly investigations, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) closure.
- Utilizing requirements derivation and tracking tools such as DOORS, alongside Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience, a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, or a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience in a Systems Engineering or other engineering role within an aerospace program environment.
- Experience supporting multi-disciplinary engineering teams through various aspects of the system lifecycle, system integration, or manufacturing activities.
- An active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- Preferred additional skills include familiarity with executing commercial, firm-fixed price development programs for space, strong organizational skills to manage technical closure alongside schedule and cost expectations, and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple disciplines, program offices, and customers.
