SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars and explore the stars. As a Software Engineer on the Special Projects team within the Falcon and Dragon Engineering organization, you will design and implement software and firmware for next-generation avionics systems, playing a direct role in ensuring our systems launch frequently, safely, and reliably.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- Design and deliver high-quality software and firmware for common processors and micro-controllers.
- Support launch operations and collaborate with peers and customers.
- Bring up and validate devices that communicate-to and fly-in space.
- Analyze test results and investigate complex bugs.
- Perform hands-on integration and troubleshooting of flight hardware and software systems.
- Work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs, requirements, and challenges.
Basic qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, math, physics, or a scientific discipline; or 2+ years of professional experience writing software in lieu of a degree.
- 1+ years of experience in software development utilizing C++ or C languages.
- Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance.
Preferred skills and experience include development experience with microcontrollers, solid fundamentals in computer architecture and networks, familiarity with NXP microcontrollers, Linux and bash shell scripting, and strong documentation and communication skills. Candidates must also be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines.
Compensation for this role is determined by experience level. The pay range for Software Engineer Level I is $125,000.00 to $145,000.00 per year, and for Software Engineer Level II is $145,000.00 to $175,000.00 per year.
