As a Speech Pathologist at Encompass Health, you will become a valued member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, welcoming patients and fostering a sense of belonging right from the beginning. You will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients who experience speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. Working closely with patients, families, and other medical professionals, you will help develop and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at maximizing each patient’s functional independence and quality of life.
Key responsibilities in this role typically include:
- Conducting comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallow evaluations
- Developing and executing personalized patient care plans based on clinical findings and physician orders
- Providing direct therapy services to patients recovering from strokes, neurological conditions, and other debilitating illnesses or injuries
- Educating patients, families, and caregivers on strategies and exercises to support continued progress at home and after discharge
- Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with facility and regulatory standards
- Collaborating effectively with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
