Halfords, the UK’s largest automotive service, maintenance, and repair business, is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our team in Ocean Village, Southampton. This is a full-time, permanent position working a 5-day week, with the added benefit that our centre is closed on Sundays, supporting a great work-life balance.
We are offering a competitive base salary of £31,790 to £33,640 per year, combined with an uncapped monthly bonus scheme that offers average additional earnings of £6,600 per year, bringing your on-target earnings up to £40,240. Additionally, you can boost your income through our refer-a-friend scheme.
As a Vehicle Technician and Mechanic with us, you will play a vital role in our busy centre by carrying out routine servicing, maintenance, and general repairs on a wide variety of customer vehicles. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and is committed to delivering high standards of safety and quality for every customer.
Key responsibilities and duties in this role typically include:
- Carrying out vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company standards
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults efficiently and accurately
- Fitting replacement parts, including brakes, tyres, exhausts, and suspension components
- Conducting vehicle health checks and providing clear explanations of required work
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized working environment in the workshop
- Working effectively as part of a team to meet daily productivity and quality targets
To be successful in this role, you should already be skilled in vehicle servicing and repairs, holding relevant mechanical qualifications or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
