Halfords is currently seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join the team in Spital Tongues, Newcastle Upon Tyne. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working 5 days a week, perfect for an experienced mechanic with a passion for delivering an excellent customer experience and keeping vehicles safe on the road.
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of customer vehicles, as well as conducting MOT testing in accordance with current industry standards. Your expertise will help diagnose mechanical faults accurately and efficiently, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard of safety and quality.
We are offering a competitive total earning potential of up to £40,200 per year, which comprises a solid base salary of £34,000 alongside an uncapped monthly bonus scheme where average additional earnings reach £6,200 per year. Additionally, you can boost your income through our refer a friend scheme.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Performing MOT tests efficiently and in line with regulatory guidelines
- Carrying out general vehicle repairs, maintenance, and component replacements
- Diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults using specialist diagnostic equipment
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and within agreed timeframes
- Communicating clearly with colleagues and customers regarding repair recommendations and vehicle status
