Optum is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Rheumatology to join our clinical team in Colorado Springs, CO. In this role, you will help improve health outcomes by delivering comprehensive care to patients with musculoskeletal and autoimmune diseases, supporting our mission to help millions of people live healthier lives within an inclusive, collaborative culture.
As an APP in Rheumatology, you will assess, diagnose, manage, and educate patients throughout their treatment journey. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting thorough evaluations, interpreting diagnostic tests, developing individualized treatment plans, prescribing medications such as DMARDs and biologics, and performing procedural support such as joint injections and aspirations. You will also oversee chronic disease management, provide clear patient education, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and maintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
This full-time position operates Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in an outpatient clinic setting. The role involves physical requirements such as frequent standing, walking, sitting, and reaching, along with occasional squatting, bending, and lifting or carrying up to 50+ pounds. Candidates should be prepared for standard clinical work environments and associated occupational safety considerations.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Colorado
- Board certification by a recognized national body (e.g., ANCC, NCCPA)
- Advanced knowledge of common rheumatologic diseases, including pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and treatment options
- Experience performing joint injections and aspirations
- Ability to manage complex patients with chronic autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions
- Familiarity with musculoskeletal ultrasound is preferred
The annual salary for this full-time role ranges from $107,723.20 to $193,315.20, with actual pay determined by factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
