L3Harris Technologies is seeking skilled professionals to join our engineering team in Murphy, TX. In this role, you will participate in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations. You will apply basic engineering design and analytical theory alongside an understanding of structural analysis to support integrated system design.
Your responsibilities will include conducting research, developing layouts, preparing engineering drawings, and coordinating design activities with internal departments such as Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production. Working alongside senior-level design engineers and utilizing advanced three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools, you will help ensure that designs meet all project requirements efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key responsibilities and qualifications include:
- Participating in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures and mechanical systems.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Tooling, Flight Sciences, and Manufacturing.
- Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Civil Engineering (or a similar field) with four years of related experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of two years of prior related experience. (Alternatively, a minimum of eight years of prior related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.)
- Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Being able to walk to and from the flight line, work in an aircraft hangar environment, and board or exit aircraft.
- Possessing the willingness to travel or relocate if necessary.
- Demonstrating CAD skills and an understanding of basic aircraft systems (preferred).
- Meeting the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
