We are seeking a Counsel, Energy and Commodities Transactions to join our team in Rockledge, FL.
In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our ambitious mission by leading complex legal transactions. Your primary focus will be on energy and commodity transactions, where you will lead, negotiate, and close agreements involving industrial gas supply—such as nitrogen, oxygen, argon, helium, methane, RP-1, hypergolic fuels, and related infrastructure—as well as transportation means and capital equipment. You will support upstream and midstream deal structures, draft and advise on purchase and sale contracts, and coordinate with regulatory and compliance teams regarding federal and state approvals like FERC and environmental reviews. Additionally, you will partner closely with engineering, procurement, operations, and finance teams to align commercial and legal positions with our Starship launch cadence.
Your secondary responsibilities will involve real estate transactions to support strategic site control through purchase agreements, easements, utility corridors, access rights, and lease negotiations for critical launch and support facilities. You will assist with real estate due diligence and coordinate commercial land deals and complex closings.
Basic qualifications for this role include holding a JD or foreign equivalent from an ABA-accredited law school, and having 5+ years of experience as a lawyer supporting energy transactions. Preferred skills include top-tier law firm training or in-house experience at an energy company, utility, industrial operator, or technology organization. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal turnaround time and possess familiarity with regional energy, utilities, or industrial development regulatory frameworks.
Additional requirements include being admitted to the bar, in good standing, in at least one U.S. state, and being available to work extended hours and weekends as needed. This position is based onsite in the Cape Canaveral and Rockledge, FL area, and remote work is not considered.
