Crown Cork & Seal USA, Inc. is seeking an Electronics Technician for our state-of-the-art facility located in Florence, SC (Effingham). As a global leader in the design and manufacture of packaging products for consumer goods, our Food Division produces world-class food cans. In this role, you will be compensated at $39.50 per hour and will report directly to the PM&R Supervisor, providing essential support to plant operations.
Your core responsibilities will include maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical systems, devices, and plant equipment. You will work with Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs), assist with new installations and upgrades, conduct process checks, and coordinate with outside contractors. Additional duties involve completing administrative tasks, adhering to food safety procedures, and maintaining a safe, clean work area.
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess either an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology or a Journeyman’s card, the ability to work 1st or 2nd shift, and experience with high pressure hydraulics and pneumatics. Preferred qualifications include 6 to 10 years of manufacturing experience, experience with automated material handling systems, and previous experience with PLC programming.
Applicants must possess a strong foundation in safety standards such as lockout-tagout, NFPA 70, and NFPA 79. Required technical knowledge includes terminating transformers and electric motors, as well as programming and setting up variable speed drives. You must also be able to interpret blueprints and schematics, utilize specialized diagnostic tools, and troubleshoot magnetic controls.
The physical requirements for this role involve regular standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Environmental exposures include working around machinery producing at least 85 decibels of noise, potential exposure to odors, wetness, dirt, and dust, and working in areas that are largely not climate controlled.
