L3Harris Technologies is seeking Mechanical Engineers to join the team in Greenville, TX. In this role, you will participate in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment, and mechanical systems. You will apply basic engineering design and analytical theory, working alongside senior-level design engineers to develop layouts, prepare engineering drawings, and utilize world-class three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Overseeing the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems.
- Providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees while influencing a wide range of audiences.
- Ensuring proposals are vetted for accuracy in cost, scope, and schedule, and managing programs on schedule and within budget.
- Ensuring program airworthiness, customer, and company requirements are understood and met.
- Providing input into new products, processes, standards, and operational plans.
- Coordinating design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure designs meet requirements at minimum cost.
Qualifications and requirements for this role:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field with nine years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with seven years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience is required.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, collaboration, time management, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with FAA (Part 23 and 25) and military aircraft airworthiness design approaches, certification processes, and requirements.
- Knowledge of manpower planning, milestone scheduling, and related financial management.
- Experience running the total lifecycle of programs including proposals, bids, planning, assessing and managing risk, and execution.
- Understanding of aircraft systems and various mission systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
- The capability of obtaining a TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred additional skills include nine or more years of aircraft design-related experience, status as an influential leader with strong emotional intelligence, and experience as a Task Lead or Product Lead, especially on large prototype programs.
