About this job

Optum is seeking dedicated and compassionate Full-Time or Part-Time Primary Care Physicians to join our dynamic team. As part of Optum, the largest network of medical groups in the country, you will have the opportunity to transform healthcare nationally while delivering physician-led care locally. Our practice model emphasizes quality over quantity, allowing you to focus on providing comprehensive, patient-centered care.

In this outpatient-only role, you will typically see around 18 to 20 patients per day, with scheduled weekly administrative time and dedicated daily time blocks. Appointments are structured thoughtfully, with 40-minute new patient visits and 20-minute follow-ups. You will collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals, supported by a dedicated clinical staff that enables you to practice at the full scope of your license. The position features standard office hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no required nights, weekends, call duties, or urgent care shifts.

We believe that patient well-being starts with physician well-being. Our Value-Based Care model is designed to support a healthy work-life balance while giving you the time needed to treat the whole patient physically, mentally, and socially. Optum provides excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth, including leadership pathways and continuous development across our network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality, comprehensive primary care services to adult patients in an outpatient setting
  • Conducting thorough patient evaluations, establishing treatment plans, and managing chronic and acute conditions
  • Collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary care teams and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Participating in quality and performance metrics associated with our Value-Based Care model
  • Maintaining accurate and timely electronic medical records for all patient encounters

Required qualifications include:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), or M.B.B.S. degree
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • An active, unrestricted medical license in the state or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
  • A valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment

Preferred qualifications include one or more years of experience in a managed care setting, bilingual Spanish language skills, and we gladly welcome new graduates to apply. Compensation includes a competitive guaranteed base salary plus an annual bonus structure based on quality and performance metrics, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings plans, CME reimbursement, and paid time off.
