At Flexport, we believe global trade can move the human race forward. Our mission is to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it, shaping the future of a $10T industry with solutions powered by innovative technology and exceptional people. Companies of all sizes use our technology to move merchandise across the globe, and we are looking for a Senior Ocean Operations Associate to help build our operational footprint and scale our impact.

In this role, your direct customers are the partners within your region, including account management and customs teams, subcontractors, carriers, terminals, and trucking providers. You will play a pivotal role in executing end-to-end movement of ocean shipments within a regional network, handling FCL and LCL imports and exports, navigating ambiguous challenges, and establishing a world-class operating team.

Key tactical and adaptive responsibilities for this position include:

  • Executing the export handling of ocean freight shipments within a regional network following local standard operating procedures and digital service level agreements.
  • Recommending ways to expand our local footprint and contributing to regional growth.
  • Representing Flexport’s value proposition by suggesting supply chain solutions for new clients and opportunities to the account management team.
  • Guarding service quality by ensuring processes and metrics are in place for shipments to move on-time and resolving exceptions quickly.
  • Serving as the primary focal point and point of contact for first-level internal and external escalations for assigned shippers and clients.
  • Working with gateway and regional management to monitor, report on, and improve operational performance.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert to support key initiatives, experiments, and operational infrastructure optimization over time.

To be successful in this role, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a BA/BS degree.
  • Possess a minimum of 3+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, ocean carrier operations, or consulting, with ocean freight knowledge being a distinct plus.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on, process-oriented, and structured thinking style with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exhibit a strong client-service mindset with a passion for client satisfaction and relationship management.
  • Display excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with the courage to challenge the status quo and improve broken processes.

Flexport is committed to equal opportunity and values a diverse, dedicated, and engaged workforce. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
